On January 1, 2023, the new 9 year heat pump tax credit began. The new tax credit of $2,000 is available on purchases of all Energy Star air source heat pumps purchased and installed between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2032.
What Products Are Eligible for the 9 Year Heat Pump Tax Credit?
All ducted heat pumps with an Energy Star rating are eligible for the 9 year heat pump tax credit. Some of the Energy Star mini-split systems (non-ducted) are also qualified to receive this credit. Geothermal heat pumps also have a rebate. However, the rebate for these pumps is under a different program and does not qualify for this specific rebate.

If you need to have upgrades completed to your electrical box to accommodate a new energy-efficient water heater, you can also get a rebate of up to $600 for this service. This rebate is also included in the $3,200 maximum for each year. Homeowners can plan upgrades for their homes each year that will reduce their energy costs while enjoying the rebates available for these services.
